Beta testing for a fee, then

Morningwood:

How would you think putting a uber guild on Test server to benefit the rest of the Everquest community would sound? They would move a guild of players who wanted to contribute to the community and suggest changes. Verant would do these changes on the fly and see if they could make the game more attracting as a whole. What do you guys think, because I do not find the people on “test” testing much if not anything at all.

Kreugen:

Yeah we don’t take enough shit for nonexistant favoritism as it is.Besides, if we were moved to test they would shut down half the zones so we coulden’t somehow “ruin” them for the other players. Nevermind that we do this already. Testers are not allowed to test. Believe me, the testing methods employed on test would actually hinder us compared to the REAL testing that gets done every time we log on to Veeshan. The only way I would ever agree with it is if we were given total control.

Face it, once the geometry testing is done we become the real testers. We get zones pulled down and upgraded without warning.. in sky it even happened more than once in the same day. We get Yelinaks loot poofed after two fucking hours of fighting WHILE WE ARE LOOTING. We spend a month cracking veeshan’s peak only to have its loot non-retroactively upgraded for our efforts. We unleash an ultra unkillable zone aggro mob in a zone with NO soulbound keys and are left to rot, saved only by our own cautious forethought. We get developers pestering us as we fight or even summoning people away to chat in every new zone. Trust me, we’ve had ENOUGH of being treated like beta testers as it is. If we were on test the only difference would be verant would be justified for treating us the way they already do. We nearly quit because after all this time we were finally tired of this game of Verant vs Us. Yes, everyone equally shares the burden of the nerfs, but only very few actually see the game and zones transformed before their eyes.

Of course, if we were on test, we would no longer have the right to be angry about any of the above. But what’s the fun in that? ;p
